Election Information

ELECTION DAY - NOVEMBER 2, 2021

 

 

 

Primary Elections are held on the first Tuesday in August of odd-numbered years

General Elections are held on the first Tuesday in November of odd-numbered years

 

 

 

The City of Lake Quivira's Governing Body is comprised of a Mayor and five Councilmember's

Mayor.  The Mayor is elected to a two-year term in even years.

City Council.  Councilmembers are elected to four-year terms in even years.  Terms are staggered.

The Lake Quivira community is situated in both Johnson and Wyandotte Counties.  Per K.S.A. 25-2110(e), the county with the larger population takes precedence during elections; therefore, qualified candidates interested in running for Mayor or City Council in the City of Lake Quivira will file with the Johnson County Election Office.

Requirements for Qualified Candidates for Mayor

  • Eighteen years of age
  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of the City of Lake Quivira
  • A registered voter

Requirements for Qualified Candidates for Council member

  • Eighteen years of age
  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of the City of Lake Quivira
  • A registered voter 

 

Polling places:

  • Lake Quivira City Hall - 10 Crescent Blvd. (66217) for LQ residents residing in Johnson County.  
  • LQ residents residing in Wyandotte County, please contact the Wyandotte County Election office at 913-573-8500 or City Hall at 913-631-5300 for your polling location.  The location is determined by the Wyandotte County Election Office and can change from election to election.
