Dam & Spillway Project
Dam & Spillway Committee: Bill Cole, Pat McAnany, Dave McCullagh, Annie Noland, Win Zoellner
The City of Lake Quivira and Olsson Engineering have developed a preliminary design plan for the replacement of the Northwest spillway (downstream side).
The spillway features:
- Concrete channel that transitions from a height of 10 feet (at the bridge end) to 6 feet (at the spillway end and before the waterfall).
- Fencing on the top of the spillway for safety purposes that coordinates aesthetically with existing fencing.
- Stonework repair/replacement on both sides of the road.
- Bridge sandblasting and painting
- Hardscaping (colored/pressed concrete) on the area between the new channel and stone wall.
- Landscaping on the west side of the spillway up to Renner Road.
- Moving existing power pole on north west corner (discussions in process with Evergy).
