Lake Quivira’s Court is a court of limited-misdemeanor jurisdiction and hears infractions and most misdemeanors. The majority of cases involve traffic-related infractions or misdemeanors, as well as occasional codes and animal cases.

Court Calendar - Court is held on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Cases are heard on a first-come, first-served basis. Here are the 2025 court dates:

Court Appearances

Requirements - Please note the following requirements related to court appearances:

  • If your citation lists a fine amount and you wish to plead guilty or no contest to the charge, you can pay your fine before the listed court date and you will not have to appear in court.
  • If your citation lists COURT, you must appear in court at the specified date and time.
  • Defendants under the age of 18 must appear with a parent or legal guardian.
  • Continuances can be granted one time by phone. Future continuance requests must be made in person before the judge.

Instructions - Please follow these instructions for court appearances.

  • Sign in when you arrive at court.
  • Proceed to the Council Chambers inside City Hall where you will find the sign in document.
  • Arrive on time.
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Turn off all electronic devices.
  • Amendment options may be available for certain moving violations. Amendments are offered at the Prosecutor's discretion and are considered a privilege, not a right.

Make a Payment - For tickets, fines, fees, and discovery requests

Online Payments – Submit payments online by credit card. Follow the prompts in the drop-down menu. A 2.5% processing fee applies per transaction.

Pay Ticket or Court Fine

Note - When making your ticket or court fine payment online, you will be required to enter a plea of either guilty or no contest. A "No Contest" plea (also known as nolo contendere), is a plea in which a defendant does not admit guilt but accepts the conviction as if they had pled guilty.

Check payments - Payments by check can be made in person, mailed, or left in the secure night deposit box next to the City Hall front door if the office is closed.  

  • Mail – Make checks payable to the City of Lake Quivira.
  • In Person – Because office hours may vary, you are encouraged to call ahead to make sure the office will be open for in-person payments. City Hall is generally open for in-person payments from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (closed from 1 to 2 pm)

Note – The office remains open on the Tuesday evenings when Court is in session.
